Now that more and more of the club is opening, one thing has become pretty clear — we suddenly have three completely different surfaces to play on at OTK.

We have:
And honestly, shoes matter more than many people think. Not only for comfort and movement, but also to protect the courts themselves.
So here’s a very simple guide to what we recommend at the club.
Our indoor courts are hard courts, which means the shoes should give you:
Most regular “all court” tennis shoes work perfectly indoors.
One very important thing though:
Please do not use shoes indoors that have been used outside. Small stones, dirt and dust damage the indoor surface much faster than people realize.
Ideally, you should have one pair dedicated only for indoor tennis.
The rooftop courts play a bit differently. The artificial grass surface is softer and a little more forgiving on the body, but grip becomes more important.
For the rooftop courts we generally recommend:
Running shoes are not ideal for tennis movement, especially side-to-side movement, so we recommend proper tennis shoes here as well.
The outdoor courts will use RedPlus, which is closer to a clay-style experience with more sliding and slightly slower play.
Here clay court shoes are usually the best option because they:
They also help us keep the courts in better condition over time.
With all surfaces opening up, May is honestly the perfect month to update your tennis shoes.
We currently have a large selection of models and sizes in the pro shop, and throughout May you’ll receive a free can of HEAD tennis balls when buying tennis shoes.
If you’re unsure what fits your game or the surfaces you play on most, just stop by, we’ll happily help you find the right pair.
